For the month of September we would like to put the spotlight on some father’s and make them smile. We have selected 4 fathers that we think deserve to be treated. One of these fathers will feature as our main smile box recipient, the others will receive a small treat to make them smile.
These are their stories:
- TALA’S STORY (SMILE BOX RECIPIENT)- Tala lost his wife, Melissa to cancer a few weeks ago. She fought a long battle, after her breast cancer diagnoses in 2014 and sadly lost her life in August 2016 leaving behind 7 precious children for dad to raise on his own. Brody 19, Talon 9, Tristeny 8, Larissa 7, Jayvion 5 , Jazper 4, Logan 1. Tala was working in the field of youth work, but had to put this on hold while his wife was ill. This dad is a super hero and has a mammoth task ahead of him raising these children on his own. Please help us make dad and these children smile
- STEVE’S STORY- Steve has been going through a difficult separation. He has not seen his daughter for months and has no contact whatsoever. No phone calls, or even a photo. Steve is currently going through court fighting to see his daughter and is not coping emotionally. He has days where he just wants to “give up”. He is currently accessing emotional support from a psychologist. Let’s make Steve smile!
- MICHAEL’S STORY- Michael is also experiencing difficulties relating to contact with his daughter. He has been diagnosed with depression and is currently on anti depressants.
- JASON’S STORY- Jason is an amazing dad of 2 little girls – Ava and Isabella. Baby Ava is almost 2 and pretty much spent her first year of life in and out of hospital fighting cancer. Treatment has worked well so far and she was given the all clear at the beginning of this year. However, the next challenge is helping her become mobile as the tumor was in her back and it restricted her from crawling or taking the baby steps she should have taken. Jason is always so bright and generous and is an amazing support to his wife Christine. Jason is the kind of guy that makes you laugh out loud, is adventurous, friendly, loving and even in the darkest moments he can still see light. He just has this energy that makes you happy when you are around him. Some of the things he loves are Nutella, travel, cars and tomato sauce. It’s time to make Jason happy the way he makes others. Please help us achieve this!
